
The Problem
MasterCard wanted to generate developer awareness and usage of a set of new APIs that would drive transactions on its network. Ketchum and Access were tasked with creating a platform that would engage developers around the world to use the new APIs.
The Solution – How we Uncomplicated the Complicated
- We developed a multi-tiered strategy to launch the program, hold regional hackathons across the world, conduct media, digital and influencer relations and release MasterCard’s Developer Declaration, a series of commitments to developers, the ecosystem and technology.
- We traversed the globe in search of top coders, developers and entrepreneurs during 12-city hackathon competition.
- Secured top media influencers in the space to judge US-based hackathons. §Winning team in each region to later compete in Silicon Valley for Grand Finale.
- Enhanced program though content that outlined interesting details about the Masters of Code series from average number of projects to meters of most pizza consumed. §Amplified on MasterCard social channels.
- Designed “Masters of Code Messages” HTML newsletter Provided updates on the latest DevZone news/changes, Masters of Code updates, featured APIs, and other upcoming events

- More than 120 articles, 48 blog posts totaling 54+ million impressions.
